Set up Gloss
Put today’s word on your lock screen
Touch and hold your lock screen, tap Customize, then tap the space under the time. Choose Gloss and add Today’s gloss. The home screen widget is under Edit Home Screen › Add.
Change the style
Turn the wheel on any card to rewrite that explanation. To change the style everywhere, open You › Style. Plain, ADHD, Gen Z, Metaphor, Formal, or Like I’m 5.
Get the morning word on time
Settings › Notifications › Gloss on your iPhone, then You › Notifications in Gloss to choose how many glosses a day, and the first and last times they arrive. If you use a Focus or Scheduled Summary, add Gloss to the allowed apps so the word isn’t held back.
Paste or send anything
Paste up to a thousand characters, or send text to Gloss from Mail, Notes, Safari or a PDF with the share sheet. You get a plain reading, line by line, and you can tap any word in it.
Your membership
Cancel or change a plan
Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Gloss. Canceling keeps your access until the end of the period you paid for. You › Membership in Gloss takes you to the same place.
Refunds
Apple handles every payment and refund. Ask at reportaproblem.apple.com; it usually takes a day or two. If Apple says no and you think that is wrong, write to us and we will help.
Restore a purchase
Same Apple Account on a new phone? Tap Restore purchases on the welcome screen or in You › Membership.
Your account and your data
Export your words
You › Account › Export my glosses gives you every gloss as a CSV file: the word, its explanation, the style, where it came from and the date. The privacy policy lists everything we hold.
Delete your account
You › Account › Delete account. Your account and your backup are removed within 30 days. Deleting the account does not cancel a membership; do that in Settings as above.
Tell us
A gloss reads wrong
Tap Something off? under the card and choose what was wrong. Wrong meanings get fixed in the next update. Or send the word and the style to support@gloss.day.
A word you want in the daily list
Look it up in Discover first; Gloss explains any word you type. If you think it belongs in everyone’s mornings, email it to us.
